The demolition of one of multiple buildings at 10-14 West 57th Street has concluded. The remaining adjacent structures are currently vacant and will soon be demolished to make room for a 52-story mixed-use skyscraper designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill. The applicant of record is James Patterson from Ancora Engineering, while Sheldon Solow, chairman of Solow Realty & Development Group, serves as the developer for the site.
Anthony Calicchio is listed as the owner responsible for the applications. The forthcoming skyscraper will stand at a height of 672 feet, encompassing 383,000 square feet of space. It will comprise 80 residential units spread across 202,738 square feet, with an average size of 2,534 square feet per apartment.
The first four floors of the new building will be dedicated to retail, followed by a five-level hotel. The residential units will occupy floors 11 through 50. Presently, no renderings for the SOM-designed skyscraper have been released. Although it may not be as tall as the record-breaking structures on Billionaires’ Row, the new building will still leave an impression on the Central Park South skyline. The roof of 10-14 West 57th Street will be only 17 feet shorter than the Solow Building and will offer north-facing views of Central Park and Midtown in other directions. The dates for the commencement and completion of the construction for 10-14 West 57th Street have not yet been announced.
