A penthouse duplex in Central Park Tower, the world’s tallest residential building, has sold for $115 million, marking New York City’s largest real estate transaction since 2021.
Gary Barnett, the developer behind Central Park Tower and One57, highlighted the residence’s 30-foot-high ceilings and exceptional layout. The building offers stunning Central Park views and luxurious amenities.
The seven-bedroom duplex, on the 107th and 108th floors, spans 12,557 square feet. It features panoramic city views, a private elevator, an eat-in chef’s kitchen, a library, and two terraces totaling 240 square feet.
The buyer remains anonymous, but the building houses both New Yorkers and international residents. Initially listed at $175 million, the penthouse sold for $115 million after a price reduction.
A triplex penthouse on the 129th to 131st floors is still available for $195 million, down from $250 million in 2022.
This sale follows other significant transactions, including a $101 million co-op sale in 2022 and Daniel Och’s $188 million penthouse sale in 2021. The most expensive NYC sale remains Ken Griffin’s $238 million purchase in 2019.
