Let's Talk

A spectacular penthouse nestled within the iconic 111 West 57th Street tower, a prominent supertall skyscraper in Manhattan’s illustrious Billionaires’ Row, has recently changed hands for a staggering $52 million. This remarkable sale was confirmed by JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group, the esteemed developers behind this architectural marvel.

Known for its distinction as the world’s most slender supertall skyscraper, 111 West 57th Street seamlessly combines modern design with the historic charm of Steinway Hall, a landmarked building designed by the renowned architectural firm Warren & Wetmore, and originally unveiled to the world in 1925. The interiors of this extraordinary tower were masterfully crafted by Studio Sofield.

The tower’s allure lies in its ability to blend cutting-edge aesthetics with the Beaux-Arts architecture of the original structure. With its elegant exterior featuring custom-cast terra-cotta, intricate bronze filigree, and expansive glass, the tower gracefully tapers to an apex that seemingly disappears into the sky.

Penthouse 61, initially listed at $58 million, recently found its new owner. This exceptional residence, spanning an impressive 7,175 square feet, boasts the unique distinction of having the only double-height living room in the entire building. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer panoramic vistas of Central Park and the bustling city skyline, creating an unparalleled backdrop for this lavish home.

While the identity of the penthouse’s new owner remains undisclosed, it’s worth noting that the 61st-floor residence offers an open layout, complete with a kitchen featuring custom cabinetry, exquisite crystallo white quartzite countertops and backsplash, and top-of-the-line Gaggenau appliances.

The penthouse comprises three generously sized bedrooms and three opulent bathrooms. The main bedroom, in particular, offers breathtaking park views and a bathroom adorned in veined white onyx, featuring a bespoke antique polished soaking tub by William Holland and exclusive bronze fixtures cast by P.E. Guerin.

In addition to this remarkable penthouse sale, another unit within the tower, located on the 26th floor and spanning 4,492 square feet, recently entered into a contract valued at approximately $14.2 million, according to the developers. Unfortunately, details about the buyer and official public records for this transaction are not yet available.

The allure of 111 West 57th Street extends beyond its luxurious residences. The building offers a wealth of amenities, including a private porte cochere, a state-of-the-art fitness center with an 82-foot lap pool, a serene terrace, multiple elegant lounges, a padel court, and round-the-clock concierge and doorman services.

“The design and ingenuity offered at 111 West 57th Street is resonating with buyers, and we are pleased with the sales success to date,” noted Michael Stern, founder and CEO of JDS Development Group. “The remarkable quality of the residences, along with the thoughtful and unique amenities, are appealing to discerning purchasers, and these recent deals are a testament to that.”
