Residents of West 57th Street, from 8th Avenue to the Hudson River, came together to create the West 57th Street Neighborhood Association. Their aim: to enhance community life and address issues affecting their street.

George Fox, a 25-year resident and treasurer of the association, highlights their vision: to build a community that attracts residents by improving quality of life. Prompted by common concerns, including noise from mopeds and safety risks posed by e-bikes, the association swiftly formed, gaining legitimacy as a registered nonprofit.

Michael, a recent Hell’s Kitchen resident, initiated the group, emphasizing the importance of connecting with neighbors. The association’s inaugural meeting, marked by discussions and subsequent action, garnered attention from elected officials like Councilmember Gale Brewer. Weekly meetings and membership dues sustain their efforts, potentially including legal action against entities detracting from street life.
